About me
I’m Killian. On most days, I help companies grow as a Software & Platform Engineer specializing in scaling platforms.
I also dabble in DevOps tooling, data engineering, game development and a fair few other projects.
On a daily basis, I…
- Architect scalable, maintainable & secure platforms. With experience in microservices (including migrations from monoliths), message-driven architectures and layered architectures, I have a broad toolkit to draw on.
- Code using Python (FastAPI, Flask & Django for web services), Javascript (Vue, React & Astro) & Golang (Gin & stdlib), learning others as necessary.
- Provision infrastructure using Terraform/OpenTofu, cloud-init & good old bash.
- Deploy workloads with Docker/Podman, Kubernetes & serverless platforms.
Ventures & Experience
January 2026 - Present
Founder of Kodefront, a product studio focusing on data-driven B2C products & development tooling.
August 2021 - January 2026
Helped Just Russel grow into a multi-million Euro ARR business.
Joined as the first full-time engineer. Grew with the team to 8 Software Engineers, 4 Data Engineers, and 3 Designers. Owned the infrastructure, deployment tooling and observability stack. Drove many technical decisions on the platform side from roughly six months in.
- Built the internal deployment platform from scratch. Engineers described deployments in domain primitives (services, jobs, pipelines) and the platform translated them to Kubernetes. Took the team from fortnightly deploys with frequent downtime to multiple deploys per day, and removed the bottleneck of every production change routing through one person.
- Led two infrastructure migrations: App Engine → Cloud Run → Kubernetes, each driven by concrete scaling or flexibility limits the previous platform had hit. Made the calls and executed the migrations.
- Co-architected the decomposition from a Django monolith to ~7 services on a central message bus. Selected the message bus and remained the primary engineer on its ongoing design.
- Introduced and owned the observability stack (OpenTelemetry + Grafana). Senior engineers came to depend on it for cross-service tracing and log correlation during incident response.
- Set up a highly-available WordPress deployment for the marketing site, taking it from near-weekly downtime to ~99.99% annual uptime.
- Trained and onboarded the incoming DevOps engineer, including the documentation needed for the platform to be maintained without me.
June 2019 - September 2021
Sole engineer during the early stage, building the full stack solo: Python backend, Vue frontend, GCP/Kubernetes infrastructure. Shipped the initial product and supported the company through its transition from founder-led to a growing engineering team.
Represented engineering in early customer meetings, handling technical questions on data security and architecture that surfaced during sales cycles.
Onboarded and mentored the first engineering hires as the team grew past solo-founder mode.
